Quentin Tarantino Used a ‘G-Word’ That Set Jamie Foxx Off—But It’s Not the One You’d Think ” Independent Journal”
****And yes some of my tweets made it way on all these sites****
Director Quentin Tarantino took some heat last night after he said a word during his acceptance speech.
Tarantino accepted the Golden Globe award for Best Original Score on behalf of Ennio Morricone, who created the score for “The Hateful Eight”
The seemingly inebriated famous director praised Morricone, but in the process he described the world of film scores as “ghetto.”
“When I say favorite composer, I don’t mean movie composer—that’s ghetto. I’m talking about Mozart. I’m talking about Beethoven. I’m talking about Schubert.”
Foxx, who starred in Tarantino’s “Django Unchained” back in 2012, and Regina King were none too pleased by his comments:
The internet lit up in response to Tarantino’s remark:

Golden Globes Recap: Denzel, Taraji, and Foxx Win The Night “NBC News”
Sunday night’s 2016 Golden Globe awards were full of jokes (good and bad), laughter, and a little bit of shade. Although Quentin Tarantino received the side-eye from many Black viewers, Taraji P. Henson’s win and Denzel Washington’s honor gave us all something to smile about.
Taraji For The Win!
Taraji P. Henson won “Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Drama” for her role as Cookie on ABC’s “Empire” beating out Viola Davis, Robin Wright, Caltriona Balfe, and Eva Green.
She brilliantly passed out Cookies on her way up to accept her award.
“Who knew that playing an ex convict would take me all around the globe?” Henson said in her acceptance speech. She went on about how she thought it would be another one of her other roles that landed her a golden globe, but “it’s cookie who spent 17 years in jail for selling crack, so the world loves real.”
Henson thanked “Empire” creator Lee Daniels and her co-stars Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollet, Trai Bayers, and Bryshere Gray. And when they sent her the signal to wrap up her speech? She hilariously snapped back, “I’ve waited 20 years for this! You gon wait” – in true Cookie fashion.
Denzel – Cecil B. DeMille Award
Denzel Washington was honored for his life-long work with the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award. Tom Hanks presented him with the honor. “Great Cinema lasts forever, and a great actor will forever astound us,” said Hanks. “A single name can define an artist who is a peer and equal with all of the greatest legends of our craft. If Washington doesn’t ring loud enough, then let the first name carry all the weight. And that name is Denzel.”
Washington is the third Black Actor to win the award in its 63-year history. Sidney Poitier won in 1982 and Morgan Freeman in 2012. Washington has earned seven Golden Globe Award nominations in his career and two wins for “Glory” and “The Hurricane”.
Washington didn’t say much in his acceptance speech — because he forgot his glasses and couldn’t read his speech, but it didn’t even matter because everyone loves Denzel.
Oh, Jamie…
Jamie Foxx won in so many ways at the Golden Globes. While presenting the award for Best Original Score, Foxx made fun of Steve Harvey’s “Miss Universe” fail, announcing “Straight Out of Compton” as the winner, which obviously wasn’t nominated (shade).
“I’m sorry Folks. I made a mistake it’s right here on the card. I take full responsibility,” Foxx said in his best Harvey imitation.
And, Foxx kept on winning. When Quentin Tarantino got up to accept the award for the real winner, Ennio Morricone for “The Hateful Eight”, he decided to use the word “ghetto” in his acceptance speech. Many were not pleased.
While talking about the Italian composer, who he called his favorite, Tarantino said, “But when I say favorite composer, I don’t mean movie composer, that’s ghetto. I’m talking about Mozart. I’m talking about Beethoven. I’m talking about Schubert.”
It was a little uncomfortable to say the least. Foxx got up after the speech simply saying “Ghetto?” and gave Tarantino the severe side eye. The camera also fell on Regina King whose face said it all.

Golden Globes 2016: Highlights and Analysis “By The New York Times”
Quentin Tarantino and ‘That Ghetto’
Earlier in the evening, Quentin Tarantino accepted the award for best score for “The Hateful Eight,” the movie he wrote and directed. The winner was the 87-year-old Italian composer Ennio Morricone, who has won the award twice before, in 2000 and 1987.
In his speech, Mr. Tarantino said that Mr. Morricone had never won an award for a movie that he’d done, and viewers were quick to point out the mistake.
Mr. Tarantino also called Mr. Morricone his favorite composer — “I don’t mean movie composer, that ghetto” — he told the crowd, which quickly earned him some criticism on social media.
Others were delighted to see Jamie Foxx walk up and deadpan the word.
